Budva’s old town in Montenegro is no doubt stunning, and I would say well worth a visit on your way through Montenegro. You probably only need a couple of days in Budva, especially if you’re visiting other places such as Kotor and Ulcinj.

Budva Activities

  1. Old Town
Start of your day in the old town before it gets too filled with other tourists. There are some little coffee shops you can take a break at. My genuine advice (as with any old town) is just turn your phone and maps off, get lost and then try find your way out. You’ll have more fun, be less stressed and find more places than you would if you just follow a normal route.
  2. Walk around the Port
The Port is quite a nice area to walk around, and if you fancy it you can also get a boat over to Hawaii Island for about 6 euros return, which – if you fancy a beach day with less of a crowd – could be well worth it.
  3. Coastal Path
There’s a short coastal path that you can walk along the sea to view the dancing statue.
  4. Mogren Beach
Mogren beach is arguably the best beach in Budva and much less crowded than the ones in the full centre. You can access Mogren beach by just following the coastal path a bit further
  5. Leave Mogren beach to walk up to the fortress
The fortress has some of the best views of sunset due to the height (unless like mine, your hostel is at the top of the hill in which case you can go up to the hostel anyway). You can then walk back to the old town or back to where you’re staying by going back down to the beach or following the road at the top.
