Split was our planned party destination on our trip (Kotor, Montenegro being the unplanned one) and it was amazing. Split is a great destination for party-lovers who want to be able to chill out on the beach, take photos in a stunning old town and do a little bit of exploring.

Clubbing and Partying in Split

Walking Around Split Old Town on a Night Out

It has to be said. Clubbing in Split is expensive. Incredibly so – with 20 euros entry being fairly standard among the larger clubs. However, it’s nightlife does rightly deserve its good reputation. There are plenty of other options if you don’t fancy paying entry fees – with good bars and music that were recommended by the hostel owner. If you also get into a good hostel, it’s very unlikely you’ll be heading out alone. Everyone seemed to congregate in the common areas late evening to have a few drinks before going out as a group.

A great party opportunity in Split is a boat party (one of my highlight days of the trip). Something like ” includes a free shot onboard, great music, stop to swim in the sea and then entry to one of the clubs afterwards. I would highly recommend a boat party as a great way to have fun and meet so many other travellers while you’re there.

Beaches in and from Split

The main area where people swam in Split was lovely but a little crowded. If you get a bus, or walk out, Joe’s beach bar is located next to a lovely beach that has more space, is more scenic and feels a bit less city.

Other things to do in Split?

Ancient Salona
  • Marjan Park
Marjan Park is a great walk, great views over Split and a perfect activity to do if you want to have a good morning out (before maybe going back to sleep if you were out too late the night prior). It’s also free, which is always a win when you’re budget travelling.
  • Ruins of Ancient Salona
Salona was the old capital of Croatia and the ruins include an amphitheatre. It’s easy to get out to and back from by public bus and you’ll only need a few hours there.
  • Day Trip to one of the local fishing villages like Trogir
I have to admit, we didn’t make it too far out of Split while we were there, but it has been recommended to us and seems like a great option for a little time away from the crowds.
  • Explore the Old Town
This is kind of on everyone’s bucketlist anyway but I still thought it worth a mention! Old Town Split is stunning and absolutely not to be missed while you’re in the city
