Up next on Travel Fit Saturdays is Serbia! (When was the last one? Oops. However as it’s getting back to summer, the writing is – maybe – coming more often!)

I first went to Serbia in summer 2025 with one of my best friends. Serbia is definitely one of the more conservative countries in the Balkans, and if you’re adding it to your list of travel places you need to be prepared.

Generally, keep shoulders and knees covered. Nightime and clubbing you may want wear dresses/skirts in Belgrade and you should be fine. However, to avoid drawing too much attention to yourself – especially if you’re stopping in places outside of the capital you’ll want to dress local. There are a LOT fewer tourists in Serbia than in any other country I’ve been to in the Balkans and as such you really don’t want to stand out. Wearing the kind of holiday outfits you might in Italy or Greece will definitely draw attention to you, showing you don’t know the local customs.

Aside from local customs, one of the main things my friend and I did in Serbia was visit churches and synagogues – where you will need to be wearing covering clothing anyway. It’s just easier and safer to keep this as a general outfit.

Outfit Suggestion One: Loose Trousers, Top and Pashmina (as on the cover photo)

Outfit Suggestion Two: Long Skirt and T-shirt as shown by both me and my friend (huge shoutout to Amelie for both modelling and taking some photos!)
